Sen. Bill Diamond will speak at Saint Joseph’s College on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m., about child sexual abuse, a growing but mostly hidden crisis in America. He will be discussing his book, The Evil and the Innocent, and his role as a lawmaker. Diamond has researched, written, cosponsored and sponsored more than 50 proposed laws and amendments pertaining to sex offenders, many of which are on the books today. He will also discuss the Maine Sex Offender Registry.
Diamond’s book is a plea for tougher laws and better enforcement against child sexual abuse. It presents an unflinching look at the tragedies and suffering of the victims of child sexual abuse. Told through the eyes of actual victims and predators, The Evil & the Innocent offers startling details and facts so that readers can fully comprehend the depth and prevalence of these crimes – and take action to prevent them. The event, to be held at Viola George Auditorium in Harold Alfond Hall, is free and open to the public.
