Today is the first day of classes at Sebago Lake, and students are filling the campus with the excitement of the new academic year.
Saint Joseph’s faculty have been working diligently to prepare their courses, and the facilities staff have done a great job in getting the classrooms, residence halls and grounds in top shape.
Continuing our dedication to fostering the overall wellness of our students and all members of the College community, we have undertaken a number of initiatives to create an even more idyllic, professional setting for higher education. As of August 19, the College campus is 100 percent tobacco-free – and with a complete program of cessation assistance, the College is well prepared to make a positive impact on the health of the entire community. We have also rolled out new environmental initiatives that will see the College reduce its carbon footprint while streamlining how we organize and dispose of waste. More details about this and other projects will be announced as the year unfolds.
We are also putting the finishing touches on the new Clark’s Court. Located near the Heffernan Center and Saint Joseph’s Hall, this basketball court is a memorial to former student-athlete Clark Noonan, who passed away tragically in 2012. Clark’s Court serves as a remembrance of Clark for the staff, faculty, students and alumni of Saint Joseph’s, and for his entire family. While the court is for all of us to enjoy, it is a symbol of the significance each and every one of you have as a member of this community.
Congratulations on continuing your education. Whether you are just beginning or are finishing your degree, make this year special by dedicating yourself to your work. We, the entire College community, will be right there with you for the entire journey.
