SPArC lecture: Ben Alexander of Maine Mead Works

Alfond Hall, Auditorium, Room 224

Ben Alexander is the owner of Maine Mead Works. Join Ben as he talks about about the history of the “world’s oldest alcoholic beverage,” his journey into entrepreneurship, and the chemistry behind Maine Mead Works’ continuous fermentation system.

Maine Mead Works was founded in 2007 as an experiment in sustainability. Using local Maine honey and ingredients, Maine Mead Works set out to re-introduce the world to the oldest of all fermented beverages. Today, mead has grown into a foodie favorite at the forefront of the locavores and artisanal movements.
