Joining hundreds of other colleges and universities across the U.S. and Canada, Saint Joseph’s students are setting out to record the most recycling they can during this year’s RecycleMania challenge.
This eight-week challenge, beginning February 2 and ending March 29, is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool designed to promote waste reduction activities on college and university campuses. During the eight weeks, according to RecycleMania’s website, colleges report the quantity of recycling and trash collected each week and are in turn ranked in different categories based on who recycles the most on a per capita basis, as well as which colleges and universities have the best recycling rates as a percentage of total waste, and which schools generate the least amount of combined trash and recycling. Rankings will be updated each week on RecycleMania’s website.
