October 4, 7 pm in the auditorium. Sponsored by The Mercy Center and Campus Ecoreps.
In conjunction with the Feast of St. Francis, patron saint of those promoting ecology, the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change is sponsoring a nationwide screening of Sun Come Up. The film depicts some of the world’s first “forced climate migrants,” inhabitants of the Carteret Islands just north of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. The Catholic Church has been instrumental in helping to relocate these “environmental refugees.”
After the film, there will be a discussion about the film and action steps that viewers can take to respond to the unfolding climate perspective based on authentic Catholic teaching.
