Toxics Action Center is seeking candidates for the Safe School Grounds Internship.
Maine’s current system of pest management is failing to protect children’s health. Right now toxic pesticides are being sprayed on the lawns and fields where our children spend most of their time – at school. Toxics Action Center Campaigns is launching a campaign to ban the use of toxic pesticides on public school lawns, playgrounds, and athletic fields.
Responsibilities
Research, compile and release the results of a survey all K-12 public schools in Maine regarding their use of pesticides.
Expand our coalition of supporters to include educators, school athletic directors, and organic landscapers.
Assist our community organizing staff by working side-by-side with 3-5 communities to pass local pesticide-free ordinances.
Hold regular office hours and planning meetings with staff
