The duties in this position center around the Payroll process at Woodard & Curran (W&C). The Payroll process is a weekly cycle of verifying timesheets entered by employees directly into W&C Project based Accounting System (Deltek), processing information Bi-weekly to our 3rd Payroll provider (Workday), working closely with Human Resources to verify, and process employee data into Deltek and Workday. Success in this entry level position requires attention to detail, an aptitude for numbers, and the ability to work effectively and provide exceptional service to internal and external clients.

This position reports to the Payroll Manager located in Portland Maine.


  • Verifying and posting time that has been entered by employees on a weekly basis.
  • Understanding Pay Groups, including exempt, non-exempt and exempt straight time.
  • Assisting with processing bi-weekly payroll.
  • Verifying new hires, terminations, and changes in Workday and Deltek.
  • Ensuring Employee setup information is complete and entered accurately.
  • Provide training to employees on recording time.
  • Ability to maintain a confidential environment.
  • Provide service to employees when questions arise with pay and deductions.
  • Contributing as needed to keep the overall department running smoothly.
  • BS in Business or Accounting preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience processing payroll, excellent people skills required.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience with payroll in a professional services firm.
  • Advanced Excel skills a plus.
