Weapons

Possessing firearms, loaded or unloaded, explosives or other weapons, or the use of any item in a threatening manner, even if legally possessed, is prohibited on Saint Joseph's College property. Saint Joseph's College property includes buildings, grounds, and programs owned and operated by Saint Joseph's College. In addition, items such as switchblades, stilettos, slingshots, BB guns, paintball guns, chemicals, fireworks, ammunition and any item that may be used as a weapon are also prohibited. These items are subject to confiscation by campus security and/or the Office of Student Life.

Violations of this policy by faculty, staff and students will be actively dealt with by appropriate corrective actions according to the governing handbook (i.e. faculty handbook, student handbook, staff handbook).

Any faculty, staff or student of Saint Joseph's College who witness a violation of this policy is obligated to report the breach of policy immediately to Campus Security by calling extension 7911 from any campus telephone and supplying the following information:

• If the violation is presently ongoing
• Location of the violation
• Number of individuals involved
• Motor vehicle involved or not
• Description of individual(s)
• Type of weapon(s) observed

Faculty, staff and students who witness a violation of this policy should never attempt to intervene, approach or confront any person(s) in possession of firearms or other weapons on Saint Joseph's College property. The situation is best handled by Campus Security who will work closely with local law enforcement to find and identify the parties involved.
