Campus Security The Department of Campus Security, under the administration of the Director of Campus Safety and Security is comprised of 16 full and part time Campus Security Officers who are responsible for campus security on all Saint Joseph's College property. The Security Department is located on the ground floor of Standish Hall and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In order to report a crime or other emergency, the office can be reached by calling 207-893-6687 from an off-campus or cellular phone, or dialing extension 6687 from any campus extension. The emergency line, 7911, can be dialed from any on-campus phone. Telephone call boxes are located outside or near all residence halls, the parking lot behind the Alfond Center, and the baseball field parking lot. The security office can be called from these locations as above, or by pushing a large red button marked as “Emergency Assistance”. These telephone call boxes are in prominent locations and are identified with a blue light. The Security Office also has an anonymous tip line e-mail box located on the College web site. Information concerning witnessed criminal activity can be reported here for investigative follow-up by Campus Security. Campus Security Officers have the authority to ask persons for identification and to determine whether individuals have lawful business on the campus. Campus Security Officers do not possess arrest power. Criminal incidents are referred to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office who have jurisdiction in the Town of Standish, Maine. The Office of Campus Security maintains a highly professional working relationship with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. All crime victims are strongly encouraged to immediately report the crimes to Campus Security and the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Prompt reporting will assure timely warning notices on campus and timely disclosure of crime statistics.
