Applying for Financial Aid

 

New Students Planning to Start Classes in Fall 2012

The following 2012-2013 forms are needed from new applicants to be considered for financial aid programs including federal, state, and college need-based assistance at Saint Joseph's.

  1. 2012-13 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (Use Title IV Code 002051, complete after January 1, 2012)
  2. Complete our new SJC Financial Aid Calculator and simultaneously apply for financial aid! NOTE: The calculator will ask for 2010 income until approximately February 17th when it will be updated to reflect the new year. In the meantime please go ahead and record your 2011 figures or estimated figures.
  3. Copy of Student's 2011 Federal Tax Return including all schedules and W2s (and spouse's, if applicable) 
  4. Copy of Parents' 2011 Federal Tax Return including all schedules and W2s if student is considered dependent for financial aid purposes. 
  5. 2011 Non-Tax Filer Statement for those students or parents who will not/did not file a 2011 federal tax return.

Verification

  1. Were you selected for federal verification? You will see an asterisk (*) on your Student Aid Report right after the EFC in the upper right corner of the first page. Please complete the 2012-13 Verification Worksheet. You will also need to either use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA or request a tax transcript from the IRS. We will send more information to those selected at a later date.

Special Circumstances

Students and families are welcome to submit additional information with the application if special circumstances exist that might impact your ability to pay for college. The information should include a letter of explanation and any supporting documentation.

Returning Students Re-enrolling for Fall 2012

The following 2012-13 forms are needed from returning students to be considered for financial aid programs including federal, state, and college need-based assistance at Saint Joseph's.

  1. 2012-13 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (Use Title IV Code 002051, complete after January 1, 2012)
  2. 2012-13 SJC Renewal Financial Aid Application
  3. Copy of Student's 2011 Federal Tax Return including all schedules and W2s (and spouse's, if applicable) 
  4. Copy of Parents' 2011 Federal Tax Return including all schedules and W2s if student is considered dependent for financial aid purposes. 
  5. 2011 Non-Tax Filer Statement for those students or parents who will not/did not file a 2011 federal tax return.
  6. Were you selected for verification? Please complete the 2012-13 Verification Worksheet.
