Renewing aid

• The College tries to keep the financial aid package as similar as possible from year to year if the families’ circumstances have not changed considerably.

• Some of the most important factors we consider in our decisions include parent & student income, parent & student assets, family size and number in college.

• Some funds have specific EFC or academic requirements that we cannot control.

• We recommend that you apply by the priority deadline to receive full consideration.

• Students are eligible to receive financial aid for up to eight full-time semesters or until degree requirements are completed, whichever comes first.

• Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress to renew aid.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

To be eligible for financial aid you must meet the following academic progress standards (both the minimum credits and CGPA):

At completion
of semester of
attendance
Class level Minimum cumulative
earned credits
required
Minimum cumulative grade point average
required (CGPA)
First Freshman 12 1.50
Second Freshman 28 1.75
Third Sophomore 44 1.85
Fourth Sophomore 60 2.0
Fifth Junior 78 2.0
Sixth Junior 96 2.0
Seventh Senior 112 2.0
Eighth Senior 128 2.0

Your progress is reviewed after the spring semester of each year.

If you fail to meet the criteria, you may have one semester of probation. During probation you may receive aid. At the end of your period of probation you must meet the benchmarks (including earned credits and cumulative grade point average) we establish for you before you will receive aid again.

Mitigating circumstances should be documented and brought to the attention of the Associate Dean for Financial Aid.

Part-time students receiving aid are also required to meet academic progress standards. To determine how many credits you must earn, multiply the cumulative credits by 75% if you are attending on a three-quarter time basis (9-11 credits per semester), or by 50% if you are attending on a half-time basis (6-8 credits per semester). You must be at least half-time to receive financial aid. You must also meet the cumulative grade point average indicated for the number of credits you are required to have completed. For example, a half-time student in his or her eighth semester must have earned at least 64 credits and have at least a 2.0 CGPA.

Even if you must repeat courses, you must still meet the minimum standards in the chart above.

Some students need to enroll in our May term or in summer school. Be sure to have courses pre-approved at the Academic Records Office.

You may receive College aid for up to eight full-time semesters. You may receive federal aid for only 150% of the normal degree completion time frame.
