Cassie Dove

General Studies student
Cassie was able to be full time (4 courses at a time)student and complete her bachelor's in under 4 years while being a full time mom and music teacher.

"If ANYONE would have told me 4 years ago that I would be able to finish my bachelor's degree while raising my young daughter on a farm in Maine, I would have laughed, but Saint Joseph's College made it possible. With their General Studies Program (focus in Adult Education and Training) in the Graduate and Professional Studies Department of Saint Joseph's, I was able to be full time (4 courses at a time) and complete my bachelor's in just under 4 years while being a full time mom and music teacher.

My wonderful advisor, Carolyn Bellerose, gave me the confidence I needed everytime I signed up for 4 more courses and working with me to complete my goal. With Carolyn's knowledge and skills she was able to guide me in the right direction and choose courses that would not only benefit my education process but benefit me in my second career as an educator in secondary schools. I'm proud to be moving onto the MSED program at Saint Joseph's College and intend to finish that degree in one year, and with Saint Joseph's GPS it's possible to obtain those dreams."

"I have really enjoyed my experience at Saint Joseph's College. I am enrolled in the General Studies Program and have nothing but good things to say about the professors, instructors, and all the staff, especially my advisor who has really taken the time to assist me and answer any questions I have had. I chose Saint Joseph's College because of its Christian background; the friendly environment and my personal experience is testimony to the Colleges' true character. I am quite confident upon completion that the knowledge I have acquired at Saint Joseph's will be a tremendous benefit to me, my present employer, and any future employment endeavors I wish to seek."

"I have enjoyed teaching adult learners at Saint Joseph's for the past 15 years. Students have been very motivated and bring a great deal of personal experience to their work. The flexibility of the programs makes it work for busy people.

The advantages of taking courses from Saint Joseph's College GPS programs are not only that the course material is timely, but also, responsive to the needs of today's adult learners. For anyone interested in useful and realistic learning, the courses offered at Saint Joseph's GPS programs are a cut above the rest. Yes, there are many choices for Distance Ed. Programs out there but the caliber of the faculty and the courses offered here are truly current, practical and applicable to a number of contemporary careers including training and adult education, nursing, health care administration and other specialties in demand in today's workplace."

"What is so impressive about the Saint Joseph's College distance students how highly motivated they are! As the instructor for Management 101, I really enjoy the interactive relationships that we are able to establish as they go through the course. They quickly apply what they have learned, and continue to stay in touch with me long after they have completed the course."

"The reason I enjoy teaching for Saint Joseph's College is demonstrated by the philosophy that each program and course is based. The philosophy to me is that the student is an important part of this college community founded on the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy. The instructors, support personnel and students are all part of the same community working toward the common goal of intellectual growth. Unlike larger organizations where a person becomes merely a number, at Saint Joseph's College everyone brings a part of themselves to the table and it is through the merging or our individualities that we all grow further than where we began."
