Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is a Roman Catholic, liberal
arts college for men and women of all faiths and all ages.
Saint Joseph's was founded in 1912 by the Sisters
of Mercy. Saint Joseph's grants degrees in fulfillment of the educational
ideals of the Sisters of Mercy, founded by Mary Catherine McAuley
in Dublin, Ireland, in 1831.
In 1970, Saint Joseph's College became a coeducational
institution. In 1976, distance education was introduced at Saint
Joseph's to serve the needs of non-traditional adult learners in
the U.S. and abroad.
Military students worldwide have
chosen Saint Joseph's College distance education for nearly
thirty years, so you know our programs meet the high standards that
only the most established providers of higher education can achieve.
Saint Joseph's College
was one of the first institutions in Maine to participate in the
Servicemember Opportunities College (SOC) network. That means your
college credits transfer easily between Saint Joseph's College and
other SOC schools throughout the country, providing you with the
fastest and most convenient path to a quality college education.
Saint Joseph’s College was selected to be one
of the first 26 educational partners of the eArmyu program in 2001.
Throughout its 30-year history of providing distance
education, Saint Joseph’s College has continued to add programs
geared to adult learners, and now offers more than 30 programs through
its Division of Graduate & Professional Studies.
Although the technology has changed, our dedication
to your success as an adult student has never wavered. Every thing
we do is designed to reflect the special nature of Saint Joseph's
commitment to our students.
Saint Joseph's College is accredited by the New England
Association of Schools and Colleges, (the same organization that
accredits schools like Harvard and Boston University).
