Educational Partner - The Maine OnLine Learning Initiative
Online Education for Professional Training
The Maine OnLine Learning Initiative is a project supported by Maine Department of Labor, U.S. Department of Labor, Rutgers University, Penn State University and the Sloan Foundation. Four states are participating in the start up project launched in the spring of 2009: Maine, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Mississippi.
The Maine OnLine Learning Initiative enables incumbent workers with the support of their employers to complete online training opportunities leading to industry recognized certifications and licenses which will result in wage increase and/or career path advancements. Approved training opportunities are listed on the Workforce OnLine Learning Initiative Portal for each participating state.
Saint Joseph's College of Maine is partnering with the Maine OnLine Learning Initiative to provide individual courses as well as degree programs. Funds are available to incumbent workers from businesses within the designated industry sectors to support professional training. Areas in Maine identified as "High Priority" are Advanced & Precision Manufacturing, Financial Services, Health Care, Information Technology and Administrative Support. The program provides scholarship funds to assist eligible program participants in completing approved courses and programs listed on the portal.
