Database Demos

Using EBSCO Databases:

Many of our best databases (ATLA, Business Source Premier, CINAHL, ERIC, PsycArticles, SocINDEX, SPORTDiscus) are available through EBSCO.  Tutorials are not available for all of the databases, so we have created three tutorials for the Academic Search Complete database that review searching features that are similar across most EBSCO databases.  Academic Search Complete is a great multidisciplinary database that includes a large number of articles from scholarly resources, so you might want to include it when conducting your research.

The Audio/Visual Tutorials:

Academic Search Complete Basic Search Tutorial

This tutorial provides instruction for building a basic search on a single topic. It offers suggestions for finding articles in peer reviewed journals that were published within a selected data range.

Academic Search Complete Advanced Search Tutorial

This tutorial provides instruction for building an advanced search by combining keywords. Effective use of Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) and limiters are discussed.

Academic Search Complete Subject Heading Search Tutorial

This tutorial examines how to find and use subject terms to build an effective search. Strategies for searching subject terms and alternative approaches to building searches are identified.
