President's Society Dinner
Celebrating the donors who celebrate the students
The President’s Society Dinner is one way the college says thank you to our most generous donors. More than 80 alumni, trustees, friends and their guests gathered last fall for the dinner at the Portland Regency Hotel to celebrate both Saint Joseph’s College and its supporters.

Greg Powell, director of the Harold Alfond Trust, greets Ralph and Mary Lou Lancaster.
"Every year, a distinguished group of alumni and friends demonstrate profound dedication to Saint Joseph's by giving generously of their financial and personal resources," said President Joe Lee. "We want to be certain that they know how much we appreciate their ongoing support and how much their kindness enhances the future of our college."Since 1971, the Office of Institutional Advancement has hosted yearly events to honor generous donors. Today, alumni and friends become members of the President's Society by contributing $1,000 or more to our annual fund, The Fund for Saint Joseph's.
Historically, President's Society members contribute roughly one-third of each year's annual fund total, allowing Saint Joseph's to respond to urgent fiscal and program needs. In return, they enjoy knowing that their gift made a significant difference in the quality of a Saint Joseph's education for all students - traditional and distance alike. During this year's gathering, honorees and their guests enjoyed a reception and dinner amid the company of several Saint Joseph's students who directly benefit from scholarships provided through donor generosity.

During dinner, Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Bob MacBride thanked guests for their support. President Lee expressed his gratitude for the guests' ongoing partnership with Saint Joseph's and highlighted accomplishments made possible in large part by their generosity – including this year's record on-campus enrollment of nearly 1,100 students and the establishment of new varsity swimming and lacrosse teams.
"We're so pleased that attendance at President's Society events has grown each year, reflecting both that the number of individuals, corporations and foundations supporting us has grown and the scope of their support as well," said MacBride. "I'm already looking forward to attending the 2008 dinner at the Portland Museum of Art."
Gifts to The Fund for Saint Joseph's, the college's annual giving program, provide valuable scholarships that help make a Saint Joseph's education accessible to all students, provide money to strengthen academic programs, support outstanding faculty and enhance facilities. Every gift – large and small – makes a tremendous difference in the lives of our students and in their futures.
