Alumnae at Pat's
2nd Alumni Night at Pat’s Pizza

The SJC alumni couldn’t stay away from Pat’s and this time – we invited the rookies! In late April, the alumni and graduating seniors got together for a night of socializing at the local hot spot. The Class of 2006 got their first alumni event under their belts before graduating on May 13.

Socializing in Portland

Ri Ra’s was the place for a summer celebration in Portland on Thursday, July 13. The Portland Alumni Chapter hosted a happy hour for local alumni in the Old Port hot spot. Attendees enjoyed food, a great view of Portland Harbor and the chance to learn about the new Alumni Student Mentor Program (www.sjcme.edu/mentor).

The Alumni Student Mentoring Program

The Alumni Student Mentor Program is a newly launched program co-sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations and the Career Services Center. Its intent is to link alumni with current students who would like to better understand potential careers.

Tom Novak, director of the Career Services Center at Saint Joseph’s, believes the Alumni Student Mentor Program will help students understand what careers fit their major, interests and personality. “Alumni will be able to help students through job coaching and guidance. By connecting students with alumni, we trust that a bond will develop that benefits both parties in their career journey,” Novak says.

Alumni can:
• offer career guidance
• attend on-campus recruiting, panel and classroom presenta- tion events
• conduct mock interviews
• provide job leads to the Career Services Center

The time commitment will be decided between the mentor and the student and can easily fit into anyone’s schedule.

We encourage you to get more
information and consider becoming a student mentor. Today’s students are tomorrow’s alumni! Information, registration form, and full details on the program can be found at www.sjcme.edu/mentor. Or contact Tom Novak at tnovak@sjcme.edu.
