New art major approved

Beginning in the fall semester, Saint Joseph’s will offer fine art as its newest academic major. Students will learn creative problem solving skills through a curriculum that will feature two-dimensional and three-dimensional design, drawing, painting, graphic design, sculpture, ceramics, photography and printmaking. Students in the major will choose a focus on two-dimensional or three-dimensional studio work, and all art majors will be required to take art history. The course of study will lead to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

According to art professor Scott Fuller, the major will develop and enhance a culture of visual art on campus and offer enrichment for non-major students as well. “As the visual arts program develops, so will exciting cultural opportunities for all our students,” he says.
