Marine science professor Dr. Mark Green and research assistant Lane Hubacz ’09 share a laugh before heading to take core samples of marine sediment at a cove in South Portland, Maine. Hubacz of Burrillville, R.I., is a recent graduate who majored in marine science. Green is doing federally funded research on extensive juvenile clam die off and has published research in Limnology & Oceanography that shows buffering sediment with calcium carbonate helps the juveniles survive.
