Meet Courtney Rague
Courtney interned with the Portland Sea Dogs and the Maine Red Claws, professional baseball and basketball teams. She says that internships are a great way for students to gain real life experience and make important connections that could lead to employment. Because of her internship experience with the Portland Sea Dogs, Courtney has been offered a full-time job there as Sales Director of Tickets.
The integrated major in Business and Sports Management enables students to take a large number of credits within business administration and sports management while earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. The program is management-based and provides students with future job opportunities in either a business or sports environment.
The major places a strong emphasis on business administration/management and a sports focus in athletic and recreation management/sport event planning.
Students will study courses such as:

- Accounting
- Sports management
- Facilities planning
- Sport event planning
- Business policy
- Leadership in sports planning
The Business Department and the Sport and Exercise Science Department collaborate on offering courses, advising students and developing internships related to the major. For students with a deep interest in sports, the integrated major provides a solid background in business yet helps prepare them for managing professional sports teams and sports-related venues, both small and large.
