Bachelor of Science in Communications with a Sports Communication concentration
(This interdisciplinary major offers a B.S. in Communications that includes a companion curriculum where students will take more courses than a minor and one or two courses short of a double major.)
The interdisciplinary major in Sports Communications will enable students to combine their interests in communications and sports management. For students with an interest in sports, this major provides a focus different than the traditional areas of coaching and training.
Sports communication is designed for students who want to focus on:
- event planning
- promotions
- sports facility management
- online game coverage
Sports management courses will educate students in:
- sports marketing and advertising
- event planning and promotion of sports
- public relations
Communications courses will educate students in areas that include:
- social media
- video production
- writing and broadcasting
The major will provide graduates with the skills and academic preparation to pursue professional practice or graduate work.
