Saint Joseph's College professor receives grant to test use of laser light in mussel farming
The Maine Aquaculture Innovation Center has awarded Dr. Mark Green of Peaks Island, associate professor of marine science at Saint Joseph's College, nearly $9,000 for a study on the use of submerged green-laser light to deter sea ducks from feeding on cultivated mussels. more

"Finding Amy" book discussion at Saint Joseph's College recounts Portland murder investigation
On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Joseph Loughlin, Deputy Chief of the Portland Police Department and co-author of  the best-selling book "Finding Amy: A True Story of Murder in Maine," will discuss the book's fascinating, firsthand account of  the investigation into the murder of Amy St. Laurent, a murder that shocked southern Maine in the fall of 2001. more

Admission Office to hold Open Houses in October, November

Mark Green, associate professor of marine science at Saint Joseph's College and a resident of Peaks Island, has received a $419,898 National Science Foundation grant to continue research on two commercially valuable clam species in Casco Bay. more

Brunswick resident discovers new crustacean species, wins grant
Ray Gerber of Brunswick, professor of biology at Saint Joseph's College, has discovered a new species of crustacean while researching zooplankton at the U.S. Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Sea. more

Saint Joseph's College has accepted membership into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and announces the addition of three new sports in swimming and men's and women's lacrosse. Teams will begin competing in the GNAC in the 2007-08 academic year. The GNAC is an NCAA Division III conference and Saint Joseph's membership is its first full NCAA conference affiliation. more
