Everyone is invited to beat the winter blues with a festive dance and "winter luau" at Saint Joseph's College on Saturday, Jan. 24, as the Calypso Cowboys offer a mix of classic rock, country and Jimmy Buffet beach music from 7 to 10 p.m. The Mercy Hall dining area at Saint Joseph's will be transformed into a cabana setting on the beach and Hawaiian wear is encouraged.
A fundraiser for the Northeast Lung Transplant Fund to help Stephanie Tutlis Briggs of Limerick with medical expenses, the night features live music, cash bar, munchies and auction prizes. Auction items include: two Red Sox tickets and transportation from Portland, a night in Portland ($100 gift card to Caiola's Restaurant in the West End and a night at the Eastland Park Hotel), splash party at the Saint Joseph's pool, swim lessons at the St. Joe's pool, basket of hunting supplies and gift card from C&R Trading Post, handmade baby quilt and more.
Briggs, a Saint Joseph's graduate who also works in the Graduate & Professional Studies division at the college, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as a child and awaits a double lung transplant.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance by calling 893-7898 or 893-7843, or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Tickets are also available at the door.
