Saint Jospeh's College to sponsor workshop on parish councils

The Institute for Pastoral Studies at Saint Joseph's College will sponsor a workshop on Saturday, April 17 at St. Mary's Church in Westbrook, with Mary Ann Gubish, D. Min., who assists parishes in the ongoing process of developing parish and/or pastoral councils. Gubish has been Director of Pastoral Life and Planning for the Diocese of Greensburg, Pa., since 1992, working primarily on diocesan pastoral council development, as well as facilitating group process for parish, regional and diocesan collaboration. Gubish has suggested that pastors and parish council members or potential members come for discussion and direction in development of the parish council. The day, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be designed so that morning sessions focus on the basics of the parish council process and afternoon sessions focus on interactive discussion. A donation of $5 per person is requested, with a limit of $20 per parish. Refreshments and beverages will be provided. During the noon break there will be time to visit nearby restaurants or enjoy a bag lunch. For more information, please call Rita LaBruzzo of Institute for Pastoral Studies at 893-7990 or 1-800-343-5498.
