Saint Joseph's College of Maine

How we make a difference

At Saint Joseph's we don't just preach our core values, we truly live them. We (students, faculty, staff, alumni, administrators and trustees) strive to make a difference in the lives of others through:

  •  faculty/staff service days
  •  Habitat for Humanity
  •  service learning
  •  building homes in Haiti
  •  Spring Break Workfest

Read about some of the ways we help.

The SJC Business Club participated in Project Bread's Walk for Hunger in Boston. The 20-mile walk took members Marc Turgeon, Nate Giroux, Sheena St. Hilaire, Danielle Somma, Erin Moriarty, Sarah McCrum and Danielle Lavoie over six hours to complete. The club donated $500.

Members of the Psychology Club hosted a Valentine's party for patients at a local mental hospital. Patients helped to color and make Valentine's cards for family and friends, and were treated to a wide variety of cookies and brownies. Club members came away with a sense of joy in helping others and a better understanding of the various disorders encountered in the workings of the hospital.
