As former players and parents of student athletes, we are excited
about
the changes underway in athletics at St. Joe’s and the
support
alumni are receiving at the College. This support is most
evident in
the time and commitment the College has made to launch
the Royal Blue
Club and to develop a long term strategy that will
culminate in St. Joe’s
having one of the most respected athletic
programs in New England.
With that said, we are asking that you join us in kicking off the Royal
Blue
Club membership drive by becoming a member in this inaugural
year. Your
membership can be directed to the Athletic Department
or to the sport
you played. The membership fee goes directly to the
department for discretional
projects set by the Athletic Director or
to the individual team fundraising
account. A form is provided along
with a self-addressed return envelope
for your convenience.
Please take a few minutes to read the goals for the Royal Blue Club.
It
is more than just a way to financially support specific team needs.
There
are opportunities to participate in career development,
recruiting of
high school athletes and supporting our teams on the
road.
The College, the Athletic Department and Royal Blue members are
working
together to bring in a new class to the Saint Joseph’s Hall
of
Fame this fall and are participating in the planning of the next
Alumni/Royal
Blue Golf Classic to be held at Spring Meadows in
September. In addition,
the Alumni Relations Office helped sponsor
the 2nd Annual Hot Stove Dinner
for baseball and pulled together a
robust set of activities in Florida
this spring for the team, alumni
and parents.
We hope you will display the enclosed decal on your car window
and send
in your membership at whatever level you feel comfortable
with. Coaches
and current student athletes will get together in about
ten days to contact
you about joining Royal Blue.
We believe in these efforts and the results that will come from
it for
our college, the teams and the student athletes. We urge you
to join
us!
