Public Safety has received several reports of theft from student rooms on campus over the past few weeks. While the most often reported stolen item have been laptop computers; thefts of iPods, cell phones, cash and other items have been reported as well.
One common theme amongst these thefts has been that, in almost every case, the rooms that the items were stolen from were left unlocked! Public Safety is actively pursuing new information on these cases-if you have any information, please speak with a Public Safety Officer or utilize the anonymous tip-line on the website.

As a result of a recent robbery/assault that occurred in the Town of Sebago (18 miles west of the SJC campus) on Saturday, January 21st, Public Safety wishes to remind the campus community of the following general safety tips when travelling in the local area:

Campus Security has received multiple reports of break-ins involving student vehicles over the past week; vehicles in the Ballfield lot, the Service lot, Cunneen, O'Connor and Feeney Hall lots have been entered and items have been taken. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has been notified of, and is investigating each of these reports and Campus Security will be increasing patrols of campus lots. Anyone who believes they may have information relevant to any of these cases is asked to contact Campus Security at ext. 6687 ro to submit such information via the anonymous tip feature on the web page.
Campus Security reminds all members of the community to securely lock their rooms, offices and vehicles while they are away from them, even if only for a few moments, and urges all members of the community to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities that you may notice to Campus Security.
