Spring Break Workfest

While most college students head to tropical beaches during spring break, some St. Joe's students volunteer their services in low-income areas that have included Appalachia, Philadelphia, New York, Washington, D.C. and Passamaquoddy Reservation (Maine). Typically they help to build or repair homes and work in soup kitchens, but all service experiences immerse students in the community where they serve so they can return home with a new perspective of human dignity and justice. The Spring Break Workfest program is supported through participant fees, a campus auction, student fundraisers and Annual Fund donations.

We already have our first slumber party set up!”

“I enjoy meeting and interacting with people from all over, and this trip allowed me to do just that.”

“The most meaningful part of the trip for me was learning how to live in the moment.”

“The most meaningful part of the trip for me was learning how to live in the moment.”

“It was great … to see how my actions helped people directly.”

“You’re like a family on the ride back to the college.”

“I can honestly tell you I made lifelong friends.”

“I looked forward to the St. Joe’s reflection times… I truly can say I will stay friends with my group for a very long time.”

“The Kentucky atmosphere and people I met during service were fantastic. The entire trip is something I will never forget.”

“We went to a crisis relief center that was housing families that had fallen victim to a fire. Talking with these families and helping them was the most incredible experience I’ve had in my entire life.”
