New Student Orientation (NSO)

For Students

Orientation provides all students (residential, transfer & commuter) with an opportunity to develop an understanding of all aspects of college life at Saint Joseph's College.

Program highlights include the following:

  • Receive your student ID & SJC email address
  • Experience campus life with Student Activities and Residence Life staff
  • Register for your fall semester classes
  • Take Placement Exams
  • Meet members of the faculty, staff & current student leaders
  • Have fun with the Class of 2019 & quite possibly find YOUR roommate!

For Family Members

Parents and families play a critical role in helping students make the transition to college. The orientation program provides parents with an in-depth look at the Saint Joseph's College experience and assists parents in determining how to best support their first year student.

Program highlights include the following:

  • Receive and finalize all of your paperwork about billing, Financial Aid and Health Services
  • Meet with faculty members
  • Mingle with other parents from the Class of 2019

Program Details

What you can’t forget to bring to your NSO experience

  • Bedding (sleeping bag/sheets, pillow)
  • Towels and toiletries
  • Swim wear
  • Athletic/casual clothes
  • Walking/athletic shoes


Students will spend the night sharing a room with another new student in a first year residence hall. All rooming assignments will be distributed at check in.

Parents, have the option to stay on campus FREE of charge or off campus. If parents prefer to stay off campus, please refer to the lodging link to the right.

For those parents staying on campus, we will provide you with towels and linens. Parents will be staying in our suite-style housing. Each family will receive a private room within the suite (room includes 2 single beds) and a shared bathroom within the suite.


New Student Orientation is FREE for students and their parents. However, there is a $50 fee for each additional family member.
