marble     US Customs and Border Protection is seeking Border Patrol Agents.

We are looking for candidates interested in preventing terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the United States; detecting and preventing the smuggling and unlawful entry of undocumented aliens into the United States; and apprehending those people found to be in violation of the immigration laws.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- be under age 40
- be a U.S. citizen and resident of the U.S.
- be fluent in Spanish or be able to learn the Spanish 
language
- possess a valid state driver’s license
- pass a thorough background investigation, medical examination, fitness test, and drug test.

New hires must successfully complete a 55-day paid “Basic Academy” training at the CBP Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, N.M.   Training includes such topics as immigration and nationality laws, Spanish, physical training and marksmanship.

An additional 40 days will be required, past the 55 day Basic Academy training, for those that need Spanish language instruction.

Border Patrol Agents must be willing to work overtime and shift work under arduous conditions, and be proficient in the use of and carry firearms. Border Patrol Agents are subject to random drug testing. They may also be sent on temporary assignments on short notice and on permanent reassignments to any duty location. All Border Patrol Agents start their careers along the Southwest border.

marble     The New Hampshire Division of State Police is accepting applications for the position of State Trooper I.

Recruitment for the class State Police Trooper I is being announced for the purpose of establishing a register of qualified men and women to be used in staffing current and future vacancies in the New Hampshire Division of State Police.
These positions have a starting salary of $41,219.36 ($42,660.80 effective January 4, 2008; $45,007.04 effective January 2, 2009).

As positions become available during the duration of the register, the New Hampshire Division of State Police will review the list of candidates and invite qualified applicants to participate in structured interviews, background investigations, polygraph examinations, medical examinations, etc.

Those applicants who are successful in all phases of this selection process and are appointed will receive training in contemporary law enforcement methods. Their subsequent job assignments will include the enforcement of motor vehicle and criminal laws in order to protect the lives and property of the public, maintenance of law and order, detection and prevention of crime, apprehension of suspects, and prosecution of violators.

EXAMINATION DATES IN 2008: February 2, April 5, June 7, August 2, October 4 & December 6.

CLOSING DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS:

MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS: After conditional offers of employment have been made, prospective appointees must pass a comprehensive medical examination provided at state expense. The physician administering medical examinations will be selected by the New Hampshire Division of State Police. No physical conditions can exist prohibiting appointees from performing the duties and responsibilities of the State Police Trooper I position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of high school, GED, or its equivalent plus 60 credit hours from a recognized college with a major field of study preferably in criminal justice or the equivalent and no experience; OR completion of high school, GED, or its equivalent and two years of full-time employment as a certified police officer. Two years of experience in the military on full-time active duty with an honorable discharge may be substituted for the two years of full-time employment as a certified police officer. Applicants who have completed post-secondary educational coursework, received police officer certification, or satisfactorily completed military service, must submit documentation (transcript, proof of police certification, or DD Form 214) with their applications in order to participate in the examination process.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Age/Citizenship: Must be at least 21 years of age either prior to or on scheduled date of examination administration, and a U.S. citizen.
2. Eyesight: Must be at least 20/40 in each eye uncorrected and corrected to 20/20 in each eye and have normal uncorrected color perception.
3. Hearing: Must possess hearing sufficient to enable performance of essential job functions.
4. Police Officer Certification: Candidates must be able to obtain police officer certification within the time frame established by the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council or be in possession of police officer certification at the time of appointment. Appointees must maintain police certification throughout their tenure of service.
5. Driver's License: Upon appointment, candidates must obtain a New Hampshire driver's license in compliance with New Hampshire statutes governing driver's licenses and registrations.
6. Candidates must be willing to accept employment anywhere in the State of New Hampshire.
