John Hufstader teaches video production, new media and Web development and has an academic interest in “pursuing the shift of our media-centric lives into the digital world.” He has worked with problem-based service learning projects throughout the community and, in 2004, co-produced "EDITH: Exit Drills In The Home," a nationally distributed multicultural and multilingual fire safety video with the Portland Fire Department, focused on refugee communities. In the fall of 2005, he also produced the video "Suscipe," a short piece based on Dr. Paul McGovern's original choral composition of a poem by Sister Catherine McAuley. Professor Hufstader enjoys film, tech, music, flight, nature, and popping the perfect bowl of popcorn.
