Deacon John McAuliffe is glad to be a part of a college that provides a consistently good education with faculty, staff, and students that are very much like a family. He loves that he is able to teach and do liturgical work at Saint Joseph’s College. He also enjoys serving as deacon for Saint Joseph’s Parish in Portland, and he is a chaplain at Longcreek Development Center, a place for incarcerated youth, where he also does social work.

Deacon McAuliffe’s courses include Principles of Sociology I, Social Work Practice I, Fieldwork: Applied Sociology I, Intro to Social Welfare/Work, Child Welfare, and Social Psychology. Aside from sociology and social work, his academic interests include history, particularly Colonial and World War II, and theology. His enjoys activities with his wife and son, including sailing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and kayaking.

Deacon McAuliffe loves teaching, being a clergyman, and doing social work, and he feels very blessed that he is able to do all three.
