Michael Connolly is a lifelong resident of Portland, having been raised in the East End on Munjoy Hill. His senior year of college was spent in a year abroad in Dublin, and he returned to Ireland for his master’s degree in modern Irish history. His research has focused on Irish and Irish-American history and the labor movement in Ireland and America, maritime related studies, and has led to the publication of multiple works. He is active in community events in the Portland area.In his spare time, he likes to interview with senior citizens, walking, and enjoys Irish traditional music.
