On Saturday, February 6, the College community gathered
together for Ice Bar, the first big event of 2016. Students (21+), faculty,
staff, and alumni enjoyed drinks and food while supporting a good cause, with
all proceeds from the ticket sales and raffle entries going toward the Alumni
Association Endowed Scholarship.
As an annual tradition in its fifth year, Ice Bar was a huge
success. Over 260 people turned out for the event, many of whom bid generously on
the 12 wine and craft beer baskets donated by the Alumni Association Board and
participated in the 50/50 raffle contest. In total, the evening added
approximately $3,000 to the scholarship endowment.
generosity of all those who attended and had a great time is going to have a
long-term effect on the future of some very lucky students,” says Robert
Coppola, director of alumni and development services. “We could not have had such a
successful event without the help of several campus groups, including our
events management team, Pearson’s Café staff, and the facilities team. Between
these groups and the tremendous support of our Alumni Association Board, we
were able to put together an event that raised $3,000 in one night for
scholarships for our deserving students. We can’t wait to do it again next year!”
The night was also made possible with help from local
sponsors, including Applebee’s, Molly’s Cupcakes, Armstrong Advanced Dental
Concepts, and Maguire Associates.
Guests were able to enjoy freshly chilled drinks on the
custom-made ice luges, tasty treats provided by Pearson’s Catering, and warm
conversations around the fire pits stationed outside. The physical ice bar
itself was constructed right on campus by Frozen in Time, and will remain a
festive feature on campus until warmer temps hit.
