“I’m pleased for anything this small endeavor has done to raise awareness in the College community,” says Frank Daggett, director of SJC’s Interfaith Ministry, “but even more so that a tiny but not insignificant message has been sent to the local Muslim community, that there are people at Saint Joseph’s College who care about our brothers and sisters who are Muslim and who are seeking a safe and secure home.”
The idea for the project, Daggett says, came to him after the College’s most recent service trip to Guatemala, and was encouraged by professor Michelle Laughran and President Jim Dlugos.
While the collection for this particular project has reached its conclusion, Interfaith Ministry encourages the community to continue donating clothes, which will be used at Catherine’s Cupboard, the College’s food pantry.
