Based on the HIPPA regulations governing patient confidentiality, if you are over 18 years old, your medical information will not be shared with anyone, including your parents, professors, partners, friends and other medical providers, unless you provide your consent. Medical information will be released only in cases of medical emergencies (including threats of harm to self or others) or when otherwise required by law.

NOTE: If your health insurance is billed during a visit to the Health Center (labs, x-rays, prescriptions), your insurance provider may send an explanation of benefits (EOB) to the policy subscriber, often a parent. It is important for you to call the customer service number on your insurance card to ask what their EOB procedure is if confidentiality is a concern.
