Fifth Annual Ice Bar Makes for a Cool Time, Funds Scholarship
On Saturday, February 6, the College community gatheredtogether for Ice Bar, the first big event of 2016. Students (21+), faculty,staff, and alumni enjoyed drinks and food while supporting a good cause, withall proceeds from the ticket sales and raffle entries going toward the AlumniAssociation Endowed Scholarship.
As an annual tradition in its fifth year, Ice Bar was a hugesuccess. Over 260 people turned out for the event, many of whom bid generously onthe 12 wine and craft beer baskets donated by the Alumni Association Board andparticipated in the 50/50 raffle contest. In total, the evening addedapproximately $3,000 to the scholarship endowment.
“Thegenerosity of all those who attended and had a great time is going to have along-term effect on the future of some very lucky students,” says RobertCoppola, director of alumni and development services. “We could not have had such asuccessful event without the help of several campus groups, including ourevents management team, Pearson’s Café staff, and the facilities team. Betweenthese groups and the tremendous support of our Alumni Association Board, wewere able to put together an event that raised $3,000 in one night forscholarships for our deserving students. We can’t wait to do it again next year!”
The night was also made possible with help from localsponsors, including Applebee’s, Molly’s Cupcakes, Armstrong Advanced DentalConcepts, and Maguire Associates.
Guests were able to enjoy freshly chilled drinks on thecustom-made ice luges, tasty treats provided by Pearson’s Catering, and warmconversations around the fire pits stationed outside. The physical ice baritself was constructed right on campus by Frozen in Time, and will remain afestive feature on campus until warmer temps hit.
