Move-In & Orientation

As the first day approaches, please use the schedule below to help with your travel and arrival plans. The schedule of events is subject to change. Please check this page frequently as more information about Move-In Day and the weekend will be continuously updated as we move closer to the start of the semester.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to campus on Friday, August 25. To ensure a smooth experience that day, please make sure that you have completed all the required paperwork indicated at New Student Orientation and on the Student Portal. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Campus Life Office at (207) 893-6603. All offices on campus will be open until 4:30pm if you need additional assistance once you arrive on campus.

Have you completed the SJC Readiness Checklist?  

Each student must meet these minimum requirements before moving into the residence halls or attending class. All can be completed in the Student Portal (You will need your SJC username and password to access.):

  • Enroll in or waive out of the required health insurance. Students will be charged a non-refundable fee of $1,763, if enrollment or waiver is not completed by Sunday, August 27.
  • Submit the Enrollment Financial Agreement
  • Submit a properly executed Guarantor Agreement  (submission instructions on form)
  • New students only: Submit student vaccination records to
  • Settle your bill with the treasurer's office 

Please log into the Student Portal to complete your forms, if you have not done so already. 

  • Move-In Schedule
    Please make sure that you have completed all of the required paperwork that was indicated during this summer’s New Student Orientation, to ensure a smooth Move-In Day experience on-campus. All administrative offices on-campus will be open until 4:30p.m. if you need additional assistance once you arrive.

    8-11am | Residents check in & move in Residence Halls
    Please plan to arrive between as we will have the “BLUE Crew” here to help you move all your stuff up to your room. Once you have set up your room, take some time to visit the Alfond Center to take a tour of the facility or head to the lake.  Residents may also stop by the mail room to pick up their mail key. Most families will spend about 2 hours unpacking and settling in. Thank you for planning accordingly!

    10 – 11am | Commuter Check –In at Baggot Street Café

    11am-12pm | Family Welcome Mass, Alfond Center Lawn
    The Mercy Center and Saint Joseph’s College welcomes new students and their families to our community. We do this in a spirit of faith at the annual Welcome Mass. This special Mass continues to commemorate the opening of a new academic year. All students, families, staff, and faculty are welcome and encouraged to attend!

    1pm | Welcome, Class of 2021!
    Join us in an opening prayer and welcome as the Class of 2021 begins its journey at Saint Joseph’s College.

    1:30-3:30pm | The PLAYFAIR experience: Mercy Lawn
    The experience of a lifetime and a great opportunity to meet everyone in the Class of 2021

    Families: This concludes the family portion of the program. Please take time to say your goodbye’s to your student. Please visit our Campus Store or any of the offices on campus before departing campus. We look forward to seeing you all at Family Weekend on September 22-24.

    Nearly 1/3 of the Class of 2021 are student-athletes at Saint Joseph’s College. Members of the Athletics department will introduce you to the best ways to support our teams….and our mascot, Blue, will be there too, obviously.

    Sponsored by the Student Government.

    Academic Life Sessions will provide you with the additional information and resources needed to find academic success at SJC. Topics covered during the breakout sessions include: academic strategies for success, academic policies and procedures, faculty advising, community-based learning, career development, and other academic support services. 

    11:15am-12:15pm | C.L. Lindsay: A College Student’s Guide to the Law, Alfond Center Gym
    C.L. is a nationally recognized expert and leader in the field of student rights and academic freedom. He also literally wrote the book on legal problems at colleges. He’ll be here to discuss alcohol, drugs, computing, sex, and the law.

    1-2:30pm | Campus Life at Saint Joseph’s College
    Information about living on campus presented from Residence Life, Campus Safety, Health & Wellness Center, Campus Recreation, Mercy Center, Student Activities, and on-campus student employment.

    2:30–5pm | Take a Break
    It’s been a long weekend already! Take this time to finish setting up your room, hit the beach for a swim, or just take a nap. 

    5-7pm | Dinner BBQ

    9-11pm | Open Recreation, Alfond Center
    All the resources of the Alfond Center will be open for students to use during the evening. Facilities open include: fitness room, gymnasium, rock wall, and pool.

    Late Night Breakfast | Stone Barn at Pearson's Town Farm
    A finals week tradition at St. Joe’s.  All students are welcome to attend a special Move-In version of this event.

    10–11am | Brunch, Pearson’s Café

    Noon | Freshman Experience Trips Off Campus, Boston, MA
    This year, the Class of 2021 will be traveling to Boston to see the Red Sox at Fenway Park! There is a small cost associated with this event, as it includes a game ticket, transportation to (and from!) Boston, and a box lunch for each student. Transfer students new to Saint Joe’s are especially welcome at this event. Please contact the Student Activities office for more information and to sign up!
