Mercy Week

Mercy Week celebrates Catherine McAuley, our Mercy identity and heritage, and the many expressions of Mercy as a Saint Joseph’s College community.

“We should be as shining lamps, giving light to all around us.”

- Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy

The entire Saint Joseph's College community will celebrate Mercy Week from Sunday, September 24 to Friday, September 29. Mercy Week begins with the celebration of Mercy Day on Sunday, September 24. It was on this date in 1827 that Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, and her early companions established the first House of Mercy on Baggot Street in Dublin, Ireland. 190 years later, we have the opportunity to celebrate Catherine McAuley, our Mercy identity and heritage, and the many expressions of Mercy as a Saint Joseph’s College community. The Week culminates on Friday, September 29, with the anniversary of the birth of Catherine McAuley in 1778.

Mercy Week is sponsored by the Office of Sponsorship and Mission Integration, with College-wide preparation and partnerships offering a wide array of programs and opportunities to engage the College community. Special appreciation is extended to the College-wide Mercy Week 2017 Work Group: Tracy Albert, Kristin Belanger, Connor Beverly '20, Lynn Brown, Jackie Cattabriga, Danielle Charette '17, Kathryn Cody, Sarah Curtin '19, Rob Coppola, Brian Curtin, Joe DiSalvo, Loni English, Patricia Erikson, Dan Estey, Matt Gawel, Jessica Lapitino, Kareem Myrick, Peter Nielsen, Jim Paruk, Kathy Reilly, Nate Rohman, Chris Rynne, Michael Sanderl, Lisa Schiraldi, Ruth Smillie, Jen Stone, Jen Veino and Shanna Webster.
