Saint Joseph’s College of Maine Launches Maine’s First Online Coding Bootcamp Certificate Program
Technology impacts our daily lives; as a Forbes article put it in 2017: “Here's what a ton of people will do today: Wake up to an alarm set on Amazon Alexa... Buy coffee and pay for it using Apple Pay…” watch some Netflix, check their account balance online. Software is eating the world, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
In fact, by 2020, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates there will be over 1.4 Million coding-related jobs and only 400,000 graduates to fill them. And coding related jobs pay well; the average salary for Software Developers in Maine is $90,1902 and is already one of the most in-demand jobs in Maine and nationwide.
In other words, we’re going to need a lot of people to build all of that software across every industry, and Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is launching a program to help people do exactly that.
Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is excited to announce the new Online Coding Bootcamp Certificate to help close that talent gap and give students & adult learners the skills companies are looking for in new Web Developers, Software Engineers, and more. In this fully online, 14-week bootcamp, taught remotely by industry practitioners who are coders by day and instructors by night, students will learn the fundamentals & tools used in industry, so they can build web applications from the ground up, using languages, tools, & frameworks like JavaScript, Node.js, SQL, Git, RESTful APIs, and more.
To help make sure students learn as many in-demand skills as possible in just one semester, the curriculum was developed in partnership with industry, and students will even work with a company remotely on a project to gain experience coding in the real world. By the end of the course, students will have built technology for a company, built and published their own Amazon Alexa application, built and launched their own portfolio website to showcase their experience, met contacts & mentors across the industry, and if successful, earned their Certificate in Web Development from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.
Discounted Early Registration for the bootcamp is now open, and discounts are offered to SJC students, alumni, partner companies, and veterans. If you’re interested in pursuing a career in coding while working around your schedule with immersive online classes on nights & weekends, visit www.sjcmecode.com to download the syllabus and schedule a call with the Managing Director, or sign up for our upcoming online info session on August 19.
