WINTHROP, Mass. – Saint Joseph’s College of Maine President James Dlugos has been named to the NCAA Division III Chancellors/Presidents Advisory Group, as was announced earlier at the NCAA Convention.
Dlugos, who has served as chair of the GNAC Presidents’ Council since the 2015-16 academic year, will serve on the Presidents Advisory Group through January 2019 and will be eligible for reappointment at that time.
“Having served as the GNAC presidents’ chair, President Dlugos brings experience and perspective on the topics affecting both the NCAA and its Division III membership,” said Commissioner Joe Walsh, who was named to the D3 Management Council at this year’s NCAA Convention.
Rivier University’s president, Sister Paula Buley, IHM, had previously represented the GNAC on the Presidents Advisory Group from 2015-17.
President Dlugos has been an integral part of the GNAC’s strategic vision and planning process in his time as chair. During that span, Dlugos played a key role in helping the GNAC expand its full membership, which will lead to the addition of three new sponsored championship sports for the conference.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
