Dr. Billie Blake serves as an online instructor for St. Joseph’s College. Dr. Blake graduated from Providence School of Nursing in Mobile, Alabama, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama, a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a Doctor of Education from NOVA Southeastern University. Dr. Blake is a Certified Nurse Educator
Dr. Blake’s 57-year professional career includes, but is not limited to, staff nursing, nursing supervision, assistant director of nursing, acute and sub-acute care administration, hospital and community-based education, hospital department (quality management, employee health, infection control, utilization review, JCAHO, etc.) director, community health program director, and undergraduate and graduate education. Most recently, Dr. Blake served as the Associate Dean of Nursing Education and concurrently the Director of BSN for St. Johns River State College. In her most recent role, Dr. Blake’s responsibilities included development, implementation, and administration of a new Bachelor of Science in Nursing on-line program. Dr. Blake teaches in the on-line Bachelor of Science and the Master of Science in Nursing, Nursing Education specialization.
Dr. Blake’s research interests include curriculum development and design, curriculum evaluation, academic rigor, and use of portfolios in undergraduate and graduate education. In addition to teaching, Dr. Blake enjoys reading for professional development and enjoyment, hiking, writing, creating children’s stories for her grandchildren, gardening, watercolor painting, and just being with her dogs. Dr. Blake resides in Northeast Florida near the coast.
