Transferring Credits

Credit towards graduation from Saint Joseph's College is granted for courses taken at accredited institutions with a grade of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale, if those courses are deemed both comparable to a course at the College and relevant to the student's proposed program of study at the College. Other appropriate college level work with a grade of 2.0 or better will be transferred to the Saint Joseph's College transcript, but they will not count toward a degree program at the College.

Credit for course work taken at non-accredited institutions may be granted on a provisional basis. Transfer credit is awarded by the Registrar in collaboration with individual academic departments. Transfer applicants will receive a preliminary credit evaluation of their post-secondary course work within two weeks of acceptance to a degree program. Students must complete a minimum of 32 credits at Saint Joseph's College in order to meet degree requirements.

All questions regarding the transfer credit and evaluation process can be directed to Jonathan Tuttle, Associate Registrar, at 207-893-7796.

Our Students

“I was at another college, on their study abroad program in Copenhagen, Denmark. Unfortunately, due to the COVID outbreak, I was sent home in March. Finishing out my semester at home gave me a lot of time to think about what is important to me: strong academics and competitive swimming. I found both at Saint Joseph’s, plus a much more vibrant atmosphere around campus than my previous school.”

“I was at a community college, and I knew I wanted a four-year degree. Now I get to study what I want to be studying, and I get to be a member of the Monks swim team. All in all, it's just a much more fulfilling experience than what I had before.”
