Transfer Student Admission Guidelines
We enroll transfer students in both the fall and spring semesters. Transfer students should demonstrate a strong record of success in post-secondary studies.
Saint Joseph’s accepts transfer applications through the SJC App and Common App. To apply for the fall semester, begin your SJC App or add Saint Joseph’s to your list of “My Colleges” on your Common App. Saint Joseph’s accepts applications on a rolling basis, with the exception of Nursing, and our application has no fee to apply. Applicants will be required to write a short essay that describes; 1) why they want to transfer to Saint Joseph’s College; and 2) their future personal and education goals.
We require official transcripts to be sent in from any previous institutions attended, including your high school. Contact your high school Guidance Department and have your official high school transcript sent to the Admissions Office. Contact your previous College’s Registrar’s Office to have your official college transcripts sent over, as well.
Have a college advisor or professor write a letter of recommendation. If that’s not available we’ll accept a work supervisor or religious leader.
Credit towards graduation from Saint Joseph’s College is granted for courses taken at accredited institutions with a grade of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale, if those courses are deemed both comparable to a course at the College and relevant to the student’s proposed program of study at the College. Other appropriate college level work with a grade of 2.0 or better will be transferred to the Saint Joseph’s College transcript, but they will not count toward a degree program at the College.
Credit for course work taken at non-accredited institutions may be granted on a provisional basis. Transfer credit is awarded by the Registrar in collaboration with individual academic departments. Transfer applicants will receive a preliminary credit evaluation of their post-secondary course work within two weeks of acceptance to a degree program. Students must complete a minimum of 32 credits at Saint Joseph’s College in order to meet degree requirements.
