The certificate program is designed for the educational practitioner who desires to become eligible to apply for the Assistant Building Administrator certification. Students who complete this certificate will be nearly half way towards their master's degree in School Leadership should they choose to continue in their graduate education.

This is designed for education professionals who find that the full master's degree is out of reach due to time or budgetary constraints. This certificate includes the fundamentals elements of Catholic Principalship. Each of these courses is part of the full master's degree in Catholic School Leadership.

The certificate of advanced graduate study is for the student who already holds a master's degree and wishes to continue their studies. Some career tracks recognize the CAGS for compensation rewards beyond the Masters. This certificate allows for students to self-design their learning.

Health Care

Prepare to be a Clinical Documentation Improvement Professional (CDIP). Get ready to sit for your CDI certification with SJC. Our three continuing education, online, critical courses will train and better prepare you to sit for the exam to become certified.

Healthcare organizations look to healthcare professionals that are experts in documentation to help them achieve the highest level of accuracy in clinical documentation. The overall need for complete, accurate, and timely documentation from healthcare professionals is of the highest priority now.

Health Administration Certificate

Develop a foundational knowledge of health care systems, human resource management, financial management and ethical and legal aspects of healthcare — an excellent framework for success in entry-level positions in hospitals, outpatient services and other primary care settings.

Long-Term Care Administration Certificate 

Begin managing in long-term care facilities by elevating your skills in human resources and financial management, as well as legal and regulatory issues in long-term care. Internships are not part of the certificate program but are available to meet administrator-in-training (AIT) requirements for licensure.

Catholic Health Care Leadership, Graduate Certificate

As the only program of its kind in the country, this certificate helps students explore dimensions of the Catholic faith as it applies in Catholic health care organizations. Students develop a mission-focused approach to leadership and management of patient care, drawing on knowledge from courses such as Catholic Bioethics, Catholic Healthcare Leadership and Health Administration Mission Integration.

Long-Term Care Administration, Graduate Certificate

Prepare for leadership positions in long-term care settings by focusing your studies in courses like Long-term Care Operations and Administration, Gerontology and Healthcare Financial Management. In many states, this certificate will make a student eligible to become a licensed nursing home administrator.

Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS): Health Administration or Interdisciplinary Studies

Remain on the forefront of your field. If you already hold a master’s degree, you can continue your studies through a selection of graduate and/or post-graduate Health Administration courses. Focus exclusively in Health Administration topics, or self-design your curriculum in the interdisciplinary studies program.

The Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate is a 30-credit post-graduate program designed to prepare RNs with an undergraduate and graduate degree in nursing for a career as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This certificate program prepares the graduate to sit for the national FNP certification exam.

The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Certificate is a 30-credit post-graduate program designed to prepare RNs with an undergraduate and graduate degree in nursing for a career as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. This certificate program prepares the graduate to sit for the national AGACNP certification exam.

The Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) Certificate is a 30-credit post-graduate program designed to prepare RNs with an undergraduate and graduate degree in nursing for a career as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. This certificate program prepares the graduate to sit for the national AGPCNP certification exam.

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Certificate is a 30-credit post-graduate program designed to prepare RNs with an undergraduate and graduate degree in nursing for a career as an Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This certificate program prepares the graduate to sit for the national PMHNP certification exam.

Saint Joseph’s College has partnered with MindEdge Learning to offer a broad selection of online professional development certificates and courses. These on-demand, self-paced courses deliver content through video, interactive exercises, learning assessments, and simulation technology to help you learn. Just choose the certificate or course you need, register online, and begin.


Keep up-to-date on the latest developments in the field through online, self-paced, continuing education courses. The College has partnered with the Catholic Apostolate Center to offer courses for the lay ecclesial minister, and with the National Association of Church Personnel Administrators to offer CEUs for the human resource professional working in the Church. The Catechism for Catechists is a non-credit course for the catechist and Catholic school teacher.

For students who are interested in Catholic Theology and service to the Church to obtain a college level certificate as a stepping stone toward an eventual Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies.

For students who have a bachelor’s degree who are interested in Catholic theology to obtain an advanced certificate as a stepping stone toward an eventual Master of Arts in Theology.  The courses can be used toward credit fulfillment of the master of arts degree.

The certificate offers students of all faiths the opportunity to learn both Judaism and Christianity from believing, practicing Jews and Catholic Christians. The curriculum consists of six online courses: three from Gratz College and three from Saint Joseph’s College.
