Our continuing education programs take the form of one-day workshops, professional development certificates and courses, summer courses offered online and in-person, custom courses for our educational partners, continuing education units, and specialized courses like Catholic Apostolic Center and Advanced Placement Summer Institute. Accounting

These workshops are designed for accounting professionals who need continuing education credits to meet licensing requirements. By attending a workshop you can:

  • Earn 8 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) hours, including one hour of ethics
  • Stay up to date on current tax laws, accounting issues, and ethics matters.
  • Learn more about how our Master of Accountancy degree program can benefit you or members of your organization

Learn to make bowls, plates and vases using the potter’s wheel. This is a basic course that will cover making and glazing pottery from start to finish. 50lbs of clay, glaze, and open studio access are included in the price of the course. Attendance: 6 Students min/ 12 max

Institute for Integrative Aging (IIA)

Experience the joy of music, learn a new skill, be social, and have fun! Learning to play the ukulele is a cumulative process. Your instructor will teach you a minimum of 4-8 chords with a variety of strumming patterns, which will allow you to play a variety of songs. By the end of the 6-week class the students should be able to play all of the songs in the music book.

Meet your instructor: Deb Shugars, “Ukulele Deb”
Silver Ukulele classes are led by Deborah Shugars, a recently retired Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has reignited her passion for music. Along with being a skilled Uke player, Deb is also a talented Djembe drummer and has been involved with the Chamber Singers.

Class Schedule: Six Weeks, Fridays, January 17 – February 21  |  1 – 2PM
Location: Alfond Center | HA1 – 2nd Floor
Cost: $120 for six-week program

The beyond basics class is for people 50+ who know basic chords and want to expand their ukulele skills to learn new genres, new strumming patterns and new rhythms. This class will introduce some new finger picking patterns and teach how and why we use capos. Students are encouraged to purchase a ukulele capo but it is not mandatory.

Health Care

Saint Joseph’s College has partnered with MindEdge Learning to offer a broad selection of online professional development certificates and courses. These on-demand, self-paced courses deliver content through video, interactive exercises, learning assessments, and simulation technology to help you learn. Just choose the certificate or course you need, register online, and begin.

Theology

Keep up-to-date on the latest developments in the field through online, self-paced, continuing education courses. The College has partnered with the Catholic Apostolate Center to offer courses for the lay ecclesial minister, and with the National Association of Church Personnel Administrators to offer CEUs for the human resource professional working in the Church. The Catechism for Catechists is a non-credit course for the catechist and Catholic school teacher.

Web Development

The Coding Bootcamp prepares students with little or no coding experience with the technical and soft skills needed for Web Developers, Software Engineers, and Technical Project Managers. This fully online, live instructor, 14-week nights & weekends certificate program includes building a portfolio of projects, including developing an Amazon Alexa App and working directly with a real company, collaborating with a team of peers & professionals to gain new, relevant work experience.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Employment of web developers is projected to grow 15 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. Programming jobs are growing the fastest, 50% faster than the market overall. And there were nearly 7 million job openings in the U.S. last year for roles requiring coding skills.”
