J. Asia Rowe’s research focuses on English, Anglophone, Renaissance, and comparative literature as well as cultural and film studies. She has taught British and Irish literature, Shakespeare, adaptation, and college writing at UNH, UConn, and Dartmouth where she also served in directorial roles in the college’s writing center and the Institute for Writing and Rhetoric. Dr. Rowe has received research grants for her work with early modern manuscripts and printing presses on the West Coast and in Europe. Her work on book history and Shakespeare adaptation has appeared in such journals as Literature/Film Quarterly and Erasmus Studies. Her current projects and conference presentations have focused on Eastern European adaptations of Shakespeare from the sixteenth to twenty-first centuries. Since joining the St. Joseph’s College faculty in 2024, Dr. Rowe has taught academic and creative writing as well as a variety of courses in the Core Curriculum, including English and Irish literature, Shakespeare, film adaptation, multicultural and post-colonial literature, and a new class on Cli-Fi. She and her family live in Portsmouth, NH, where they enjoy running, hiking, baseball, yoga, dancing, and drawing whenever they’re not curled up with two of the very best companions: a good book and their tabby cat, Almond.
