Jeff Morris is an Instructor of Mathematics holding a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education. Combining a strong analytical background with real-world perspective drawn from growing up in a family of ten and working as a longshoreman, Jeff specializes in making mathematics approachable and meaningful for students of all backgrounds.
Early in his career, Jeff recognized that traditional textbooks often failed to explain concepts clearly. Driven to bridge this gap, he authored customized Pre-Algebra and Algebra textbooks, and has since written a Statistics textbook. He is currently developing an Algebra through Precalculus text that incorporates real-world applications. To make abstract concepts tangible, Jeff regularly uses real-life scenarios in his teaching, such as designing hiking-based activities to demonstrate stride estimation, rate of travel, elevation, and slope.
Outside the classroom, Jeff is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys competing in Spartan races and triathlons, playing guitar, and spending time with family. Each year, he looks forward to an annual week of exploration in New Hampshire’s White Mountains with his two grandchildren, which they have affectionately named “Camp Grandpa.”
