Rachel is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, where she earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Education. Her nursing career has taken her through a variety of settings, including urgent care, maternity, ambulatory care, and long-term care. It was through these experiences that she discovered how much she enjoyed teaching others and eventually found her way into nursing education.
Now back at Saint Joseph’s as a member of the nursing faculty, Rachel enjoys having the opportunity to teach at the same college where her own nursing career began. She currently teaches Introduction to Nursing, Pathophysiology, Community Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Nursing Leadership, and Nursing Internship. She especially enjoys helping students make connections between what they learn in the classroom and the patients, families, and communities they will care for as nurses.
Rachel’s work in education also extends beyond the college classroom. She serves as a Child Care Health Consultant and is a Certified Trainer with Maine Roads to Quality, where she provides education and consultation related to health and wellness in early childhood settings.
Rachel lives in the Sebago Lake region with her husband and their three children. When she isn’t teaching, she enjoys reading, yoga, traveling, and spending time with her family.
