Space to Grow

My advice is to get out on campus and get out in Maine. Sebago Lake is a blessing. You are able to take a step back, deep breath and enjoy nature while you learn.

Experience Lakes, Mountains, Ocean, & the City in Your Backyard.
On the shores of Maine’s second largest lake and just 15 miles from Portland, the state’s largest city, Saint Joseph’s offers a lot of ground to cover.
The Great Outdoors
Our campus is uniquely situated on 474 acres of forestland and 2,100 feet of shorefront on Sebago Lake. Let our private wooded waterfront location be your next home.
Access to the City
Just beyond our active campus lies Portland, Maine’s largest city and a bustling cultural and economic center. Selected by Forbes Magazine as one of the best cities for young adults, Portland is an ideal place for creativity to flourish.

Student-athletes are the heart and soul of Saint Joe’s- and actually 1 out of every 3 students is an athlete on our campus. Whether you’re playing or cheering for one of our 21 NCAA Division III teams, you’ll see firsthand how a team can grow community. Stay healthy with our intramural sports program, fully-equipped athletic center, and miles of hiking trails.
A Place That's Here For You
Saint Joseph’s is a place that takes care of people. Our academic, career, and even food services are staffed with people who will bend over backward to support you. Our campus hums with fun and exciting activities every day. And our Mercy values aren’t just words – we live them every day.
Supportive Services
Discover the power of academic and career support, all at once. The energetic staff of our Academic Center for Excellence will work closely with you to define your path, stick to it, and prepare for what comes next.
Student Engagement
Ever wish you could step off a paddleboard and head straight to a movie under the stars? No? That’s because you haven’t experienced a typical Saturday planned by our Residential Living crew. All they do is fun.
Mercy Values
Founded by the Sisters of Mercy over 100 years ago, our community lives out the words of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy: “We should be as shining lamps, giving light to all around us.”

Dare to Explore
Connections Everywhere You Look. Saint Joseph’s offers a variety of ways to get involved. Whether you’re looking to explore the outdoors, join campus clubs, volunteer in the community, or study abroad, there is something here for you.
Environmental Science Semester:
Immerse yourself in the practice of field science for an entire semester.
Study Away in Granada, Spain:
Saint Joseph’s offers programs for students ranging from one week to an entire semester.
Service Trips:
Whether traveling to Guatemala to provide medical aid, or to Haiti to construct new homes, our students make a difference in the world.
Spring Break Workfest:
For 30 years SJC students have been trading swimsuits for shovels, sacrificing a traditional spring break experience to perform service work for those less fortunate in places like Kentucky, New York, and New Orleans.
I have traveled to New Orleans, LA, and Kampala, Uganda, to support people in need. During spring break workfest my junior year I traveled with a small group to NOLA where we volunteered at multiple local organizations to provide an extra hand. It was invigorating, trying new things and meeting new people. It’s humbling to interact with people with different backgrounds and even though LA is within the USA, it’s eye opening how much a little help can go a long way

Space to Lead
Community-Based Learning is an integral component of our learning experience. In collaboration with local non-profits and partners, we provide our students with hands-on learning in the real world – making a real difference in Maine’s communities. Whether you’re a natural-born leader or someone looking to step outside of your comfort zone, there is an option for you.
Space to Dive In
We believe that friends are formed from shared experiences and that community is collaborative. You’ll find hundreds of opportunities to support the college’s mission, work together, and have fun. It is so easy to get involved in an existing club on campus, and even cooler to invent one. New ideas and self-starters welcome.
