Serving others is an integral part of a well-rounded education. There are many ways that you can commit yourself to service at Saint Joseph's.
Every week, students volunteer at an area food pantries. Over semester break in January, students can choose to help feed people at a homeless shelter in Portland or build a house in Guatemala. During Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, students serve breakfast and lunch at local food pantries. In March, members of the College community have the opportunity to volunteer nationwide during an alternative vacation called Spring Break Workfest. However you want to get involved, there's a way to make a difference as a Saint Joseph’s student.
Living tradition
Reaching out beyond our campus boundaries speaks to the mission of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy, who opened her heart with compassion to those with physical, psychological, and spiritual need. The Mercy tradition lives on at the College through our emphasis on charity and kindness, advocacy for justice, and stewardship – both on- and off-campus.
