After 40 years in distance education, we understand that adult learners are busy with many commitments outside of their coursework -- which is why we have a structure that allows you to study on your own timeline. Our online courses are either 10 or 12 weeks long, and each program offers up to 5 start dates per year.  There is no requirement to log on at a specific time,* and online access to your course is available 24/7. Coursework will be due each week to keep you on track towards earning your degree.

* Graduate Health Administration courses have a one hour live lecture each week.

Watch this video from one online student about how an online education from Saint Joseph’s helped elevate her career path.

Whether you are just starting your education journey, looking to transfer, or ready to get a graduate degree, we can help.

If you work for one of the organizations that are a member of the Maine Hospital Association (MHA) then you are entitled to a special tuition rate for most of our online degrees and professional development programs.

More

How does online learning work?2019-08-12T14:33:54-04:00

Our courses are delivered via a learning portal, Brightspace. They operate in an asynchronous format, meaning you will have set due dates for assignments in your courses, but are not required to be logged on at a particular time.*  You can complete the coursework at times that are convenient for your schedule with the established due dates. Online students engage with their instructor and classmates through discussion boards and individual feedback from the instructor.

*Courses in the Master of Health Administration program include one live REEL session per week. A day and time that works for students is determined by the instructor each term.

Is the GRE or GMAT required for graduate programs?2019-08-12T14:32:03-04:00

No, we do not require any admissions testing for our graduate programs.

When do classes start?2022-06-17T16:20:40-04:00

The majority of our programs offer five 10-week terms per year. For the 2022-2023 academic year, our 10-week terms will begin in August, October, January, March, and May. Our Nursing and Graduate Theology programs offer four 12-week terms per year beginning in July, October, January and April.

What about SAT scores or high school transcripts?2022-06-17T16:18:48-04:00

No test scores are required when applying to SJC. High school transcripts are only required for students who have not taken college classes before at an accredited college or university.

Let our team of admissions counselors help you choose an online program that meets your individual goals.
